As per Union Cabinet approval, Haryana will soon get its own AIIMS at a cost of Rs 1,299 crore, and AIIMS New Delhi will be turned into a “world class medical university”. Haryana AIIMS will be adding 100 MBBS seats and 750 hospital beds. The new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will come up at Manethi in Haryana’s Rewari district and will add 60 Bachelor Nursing course seats too. It will also have an AYUSH Block, auditorium, night shelter, guest house, hostels and residential facilities, apart from a medical college.
The new AIIMS of 750 hospital beds will include emergency/trauma beds, AYUSH beds, private beds and ICU speciality and super speciality beds in the 15-20 Super Specialty Departments. Each new AIIMS is expected to cater to around 1,500 Out Patient Departments (OPD).
The master plan regarding Delhi AIIMS which got the go-ahead from the Cabinet aims to free up enough space in the institute and improve the infrastructure for the next 20 years. The project hopes to create a world-class medical university that can also provide highly specialized healthcare services along with space to advance research.
Moreover, it would be able to provide an integrated ‘one campus’ answer to all the investigative, physiotherapeutic, operative, rehabilitative and vocational needs of the patients along with ensuring smart mobility and accessibility for them. It is hoped that the Delhi AIIMS can become an apex tertiary care centre for the advancement of research, clinical applications and management of patients.
