The Chairperson of UGC, Mamidala Jagdesh Kumar, has declared that all eligible students should apply for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET Undergraduate) – 2024 to avoid any last-minute rush. This initiative is aimed at simplifying and streamlining the university admissions process nationwide.
The CUET-UG, mandated by both the Ministry of Education and UGC, is administered by the National Testing Agency. It acts as the entry point for undergraduate studies at Central Universities under the Ministry of Education as well as other participating universities, institutions, organizations, and autonomous colleges across the country. The goal is to offer applicants a straightforward way to access a variety of academic institutions throughout the country.
The list of universities involved, is continually evolving, currently encompassing more than 200 institutions. This includes 46 Central, 36 State, 20 Deemed, and 105 Private Universities, in addition to 6 Government Institutions. The increasing count of institutions recognizing CUET-UG scores underscores the test’s rising importance and widespread acceptance.
