Around 300 students from schools under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) gained hands-on experience in artificial intelligence (AI) during a special three-day workshop, Aces of AI. The initiative focused on Classes 9 to 12 and aimed to equip students with skills in AI, machine learning, and virtual reality, preparing them for future careers.
Organised by Homi Lab, India’s first Future-Skills Lab, the programme trained participants in 15 AI tools and virtual reality devices. Students worked on innovative projects including AI-generated comics, digital books, paintings, and even song lyrics, combining creativity with technology.
NDMC Director of Education Kritika Chaudhary said the pilot project was carefully planned, with principals across the council’s 42 schools nominating motivated students. She highlighted that the initiative especially supports learners from economically weaker backgrounds and encourages unconventional, experiential learning alongside classroom studies.
The workshop concluded with an exhibition at Navyug School in Sarojini Nagar, showcasing students’ creative outputs and demonstrating how AI can empower young minds.
NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal noted that students collectively received more than 6,000 hours of training and were introduced to generative AI, machine learning, and virtual reality labs. He emphasised that the project aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, promoting digital literacy and experiential learning, and contributes to the larger vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by nurturing skilled, tech-savvy youth.
With positive feedback from both participants and organisers, the Aces of AI workshop is set to pave the way for more programmes integrating modern technology into school education.
