Delhi University has announced that approximately 5,000 of their students will run a 2.4-kilometer race called ‘Run for Viksit Bharat’ on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, as part of an initiative to help India become a developed nation by 2047. The event, according to the university’s statement released, will feature DU Vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh as the chief guest.
Students from different colleges within the university will join the marathon, organised under the collaboration between Delhi University and the Vikas Bharat Ambassador Club. Preparations for the run were discussed in a meeting led by DU registrar Vikas Gupta.
During the meeting, nodal officers and sports instructors from various colleges, along with NCC and NSS officers, discussed the details of the event. Gupta mentioned that the race will start at 7 am on May 8, 2024 from gate number one of the university and will conclude at the university’s sports complex at gate number four. He added that about 5,000 students from various colleges are about to participate in the 2.4-kilometer run.
Gupta explained that the purpose of the “Run for Viksit Bharat” is to bring awareness in the society to make India a developed nation by 2047. He mentioned that invitations have been sent to colleges to participate in the run.
