A recent survey by LeapScholar has highlighted a significant trend in international education, revealing that 57% of Indian students aspiring to study abroad come from state boards, with 34% identifying as female. The “Application-based Survey 2024” showcases a shifting landscape in study abroad preferences, as students are increasingly exploring options beyond traditional favourites like Canada, the UK, and the US, with countries such as Japan and the Netherlands gaining popularity.
According to the study, while STEM disciplines have continued to attract attention, students are broadening their academic interests to include subjects like psychology, law, sports sciences, architecture, performing arts, and social sciences. This reflects a growing desire for a more diverse educational experience among aspiring global learners.
According to the study, the surge in international aspirations among state board students can be attributed to factors such as improved digital access, heightened awareness of global study opportunities, and the availability of comprehensive online resources. These developments have made it easier for students to consider educational paths that transcend conventional boundaries.
