According to the HirePro report’ The New Reality in College’ about 68 per cent of students are willing to relocate for the right internship opportunity, with high priority towards a flexible and fair compensation in internships.
Another finding of the report is 53% of Indian students want internships to stretch for 4-6 months. This idea has been advocated by 40 percent colleges, and 57 per cent of corporate houses.
Students see internships as an opportunity to learn the real-world nuances of what they study in classrooms while being mentored by an expert.
The report also stated that 37 per cent of colleges endorse 10-12 months long internship for students to be industry-ready and shorter internships, lasting 2 to 3 months, are quite popular among 40 per cent of the students.
As claimed by the report, Students prioritise flexibility and fair compensation whilst expecting a monthly stipend for full-time internships ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 40,000, with 60 per cent of students readily willing to relocate to any place for the right internship opportunity.
Conversely, a significant disparity exists between students, corporations, and academia regarding remote and flexible internship models.
The demand for remote and flexible is on the rise, as the survey highlights that 79 per cent of students are ready to embrace remote internships, while 71 per cent of corporate opposes it, citing concerns over effective supervision and hands-on training.
Acknowledging the new digital landscape about 67 per cent of colleges support internship models. 86 per cent of students expressed interest in part-time internships especially – a preference that 55 per cent of corporate oppose.
The company’s report surveyed the aspirations and preferences of a diverse pool of 20,000+ students, 350+ educational institutions, and 200+ corporate entities, with additional perspectives from 100+ campus recruitment experts.
