Jamia Hamdard University and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai are some of the universities that have agreed to use CUET for the admission of students in the under graduate programs from the upcoming academic session 2022-23, UGC Chairperson M. Jagadesh Kumar announced on Sunday after a discussion with the directors and Vice Chancellors of these institutes. UGC had appealed to the central and private universities to take up CUET for admission to their under graduate courses on Sunday.
“The fact that eight deemed-to-be-universities have expressed willingness to use the CUET for carrying out admissions is important because this will encourage other higher education institutions also,” UGC chairman, M. Jagadesh Kumar stated on Sunday.
The 8 universities that were part of the meeting were, TISS, Mumbai, Jamia Hamdard, Dayalbagh Education Institution, Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gujarat Vidyapith Ahmedabad, Gurukul Kangri, Haridwar, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore and Ramakrishna Vivekananda Educational Research Institute, Kolkata.
