The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board will conduct the Gujarat Common Entrance Test on March 29 in offline mode across multiple centres in the state. The examination is a key gateway for students seeking admission to degree engineering and degree/diploma pharmacy programmes in Gujarat after completing Class 12 (Science).
This year, more than 1.35 lakh candidates have registered for the test. Of these, around 1.15 lakh students are from the Gujarat Board, over 18,500 candidates are from the Central Board of Secondary Education, while the remaining applicants belong to other boards.
Exam Schedule and Format
The OMR-based examination will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in multiple sessions. The paper will cover four subjects—Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Each subject will consist of 40 multiple-choice questions, carrying one mark each, with a duration of 60 minutes per subject.
Physics and Chemistry will be held together in the morning session from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. In the afternoon, Biology will be conducted first, followed by Mathematics, with the entire examination concluding by 4:00 PM.
Subject Requirements by Group
All candidates from Class 12 Science streams—A, B, and AB groups—must appear for Physics and Chemistry.
- A group students will take Mathematics but not Biology
- B group students will take Biology but not Mathematics
- AB group students will appear for all four subjects
Language Options
The examination will be conducted in three languages: Gujarati, English, and Hindi.
Admission Process
The GUJCET score, along with Class 12 Science board results, will be used to prepare the merit list for admissions. Based on this combined merit, candidates will be offered seats in engineering and pharmacy institutions across Gujarat.
Students are advised to follow the prescribed reporting schedule, carry valid admit cards, and adhere strictly to examination guidelines to ensure a smooth test-day experience.
