In a heartwarming story of perseverance and passion, a 38-year-old mother from Telangana appeared for NEET 2025 alongside her daughter, rekindling a long-held dream she had once set aside.
A Rare Duo with a Shared Goal
Bhukya Sarita, a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) from Manchyanayak Thanda in Suryapet district, sat for the NEET exam at the Government Junior College in Suryapet. Her daughter, Kaveri, attempted the same exam at a different center in Khammam. Their simultaneous appearance for one of India’s toughest medical entrance exams has captured attention and admiration.
From Nursing Student to Mother to Aspirant Again
Sarita was in the final year of her BSc Nursing in 2007 when she had to discontinue her education due to marriage. Life moved on with family responsibilities and raising two daughters taking center stage. Yet, her ambition to become a doctor never truly faded.
With her husband, Bhukya Kishan—also an RMP—supporting her all the way, Sarita encouraged their daughter Kaveri to pursue MBBS. But as Kaveri began her NEET coaching in Khammam, Sarita found her own passion for medicine rekindled.
A Balancing Act of Grit and Determination
Despite her daily commitments at work and at home, Sarita carved out time to study and prepare. Her decision to appear for NEET wasn’t just symbolic—it was a genuine attempt at reclaiming a lost dream. Her journey showcases the resilience of women who refuse to be confined by age or circumstances.
A Story of Empowerment and Second Chances
This mother-daughter milestone is more than just a rare coincidence. It’s a story of personal courage, family support, and the changing face of women’s education in India. Sarita’s return to academics after 18 years sends a strong message: it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
As both mother and daughter await their results, their story continues to inspire countless others who believe that with determination, no dream is too distant.
