Sarvesht Mishra, principal of Adarsh Primary School in Moorghat, Basti has been nominated for the Teacher’s National Award. On the auspicious occasion of Teacher’s Day, it becomes an immense pleasure to read, write or even report about such personalities who wield the power of education and use it to change the scenario of the entire area. From being a school with 19 students, the primary school went to 235 students in just two years.
Lack of a proper toilet, good infrastructure, furniture and other amenities that turn a building into a school, didn’t stop him from doing something for the region of Basti. He pleaded with every family to send their children to school, renovated the entire school into a model school, and has introduced smart classes, tablets, projectors, audio-visual labs to the school.
Basic education additional director Lalita Pradeep remarked that “We feel proud to have such a dedicated teacher among us”. He is the only teacher from UP who has won the award.
