The medical education department of Maharashtra has announced that Acupuncture will now be a recognized paramedical course. This step is intended to add credibility to courses like Acupuncture and increase the tourism in the state.
To pursue Acupuncture, one doesn’t need to qualify NEET. Aspirants can get admissions in this 2-year program (followed by a 6-month internship) based on their 12th standard marks.
Currently, all the paramedical courses are affiliated to the Paramedical Council of India. By the recognition of Acupuncture as a paramedical course, students pursuing Acupuncture will be given certificates approved by the Paramedical Council of India.
The move is expected to relieve students who don’t perform well in NEET and increase job opportunities in the field.
