Recently, the union government has come to a conclusion to extend the age relaxation of Jammu and Kashmir candidates applying for civil services exam conducted by the UPSC. For general category, the upper age limit is 32 and for reserved category, it is as per the category. For SC/ ST it is five years, for OBC it is three years and so on. Age relaxation for J&K candidates has been provided, however, age relaxation was expelled from the UPSC in its CSE 2018 notification.
The UPSC on Thursday modified it’s recent 9 February notification stating relaxation up to five years for interested candidates for those who ‘ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 1st day of January 1980 to the 31st day of December 1989.’
In the last week, Omar Abdullah had demanded the government to look further in providing relaxation in the upper age limit of the state’s youth appearing for UPSC. The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said that relaxation of five years in upper age limit in central services examinations to the students of J-K since 1995 should be reversed.
