The Amazon Future Engineer programme has unveiled 500 merit-based scholarships worth ₹2 lakhs each, aimed at supporting female students pursuing undergraduate degrees in computer science engineering or related fields. These scholarships, distributed over four years, aim to foster gender diversity in the technology sector by empowering talented young women from tier-2 cities and beyond.
The announcement was made during the ‘Careers of the Future’ Summit 2025, held in Delhi. The summit, hosted by Amazon under its Future Engineer initiative, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and educators to explore strategies for enhancing computer science education across India.
As part of its broader mission, the Amazon Future Engineer programme has already trained 3 million government school students and over 20,000 teachers across 272 districts in eight Indian states. The programme focuses on students in grades 6 and above, equipping them with essential skills for the digital age. Participants gain access to engaging, multilingual learning materials in seven Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi.
The initiative goes beyond financial aid, providing mentorship opportunities with Amazon employees, personalised coding boot camps, and personal laptops to facilitate learning and career development. Students are also introduced to advanced modules in artificial intelligence, coding, and application development through immersive, project-based learning approaches.
The ‘Careers of the Future’ Summit 2025 highlighted the importance of computer science in preparing children for future careers. It explored best practices for scaling quality education across the country while emphasising the collaborative roles of government, industry, and educational institutions in bridging the gap between education and career opportunities.
Through these scholarships and initiatives, Amazon aims to nurture the next generation of tech innovators and create a diverse and inclusive workforce, contributing to India’s digital and economic growth.
