Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, had asked the State Higher Education department to begin courses on cyber-crime in institutions so that students get an edge in getting jobs in the police department and other areas related to cyber-crime detection.
The state government is already working to set up a centre of excellence in cyber-secutity.
According to sources from the State Secretariat, Chief Minister had asked the Higher Education department senior officials to work out on the process to initiate courses on cyber-crime. The state IT department that is already working on this for the centre of excellence, will be assisting the Higher Education department to frame a syllabus on cyber-crime for college students to study.
