Question Pattern
According to the existing pattern, questions in CBSE Class 12 Board exams were limited to one-markers which can now translate into short or long questions. Joseph Emmanuel, Director, Academics at CBSE said that CBSE Class 12 Board exams 2021 will have more case-study based questions wherein a paragraph will be given and students will be required to answer questions after reading the paragraph. The answers given by the students will assess the students on their reading, understanding, interpretation and writing abilities, a change from the existing rote learning. Based on the new format, CBSE Board sample papers have already been released.
He said that a part of CBSE’s aim is to make the Board exams“competency-based”. The comprehension-based questions will assess students on their ability to understand and apply concepts in real life. He also added that students’ interest will be kept in mind while making the shift from rote learning to learning for life.
