The violent protests during the Bharat Bandh have led to the CBSE class X and XII examinations being postponed in Punjab on 2nd April, 2018. This decision was taken by the CBSE board at the request of the Director General (School Education) of the Punjab State government.
All the schools were also shut for the day because of the protests by several Dalit groups against the alleged dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Suspension of public transport services and even the suspension of internet services was taken up by the state government as a safety step.
Due to the Bharat Bandh, Punjab as well as some areas of Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh witnessed law and order problems and disturbances during the day.
CBSE stated that exams would carry on as per schedule in UT of Chandigarh and the rest of the country. The board will soon announce the next date of the examinations in Punjab.
