A study published in the Journal of Hospital Infection says that the novel corona virus that causes COVID-19 infection may spread across hospital surfaces in 10 hours from a single spot in an isolated room at hospital.
The researchers hailed from University College Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital claimed that the virus DNA left on the hospital bed was found nearly in half of sites that they searched for.
To work around the experiment, the researchers created a replica of the SARS – Cov 2 virus.
Researchers planted the DNA on a hospital bed and then sampled 44 sites of the hospital for the next 5 days.
They found that after 10 hours, the genetic material had spread to 41 percent of the sites.
From bed rails, to door handles and arm rest, the places also included waiting rooms and books in play area.
Given the easy spread of virus, it seems eminent that people have to stay more careful.
