Australia’s Deakin University will be the first foreign varsity to open its independent campus in India. The educational institution is said to be setup its campus at Gujarat’s GIFT city. An official announcement will soon be released on March 8, when Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Norman Albanese, will visit the capital of the state.
The institution has filed its application to International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) that regulates the GIFT city. According to reports, establishment work and operations of the university will begin from 2024. Students will be able to avail post graduation degree from the institute once it is up and running.
Deakin is a renowned university in Australia with four campuses in the nation. It is ranked 266th in the QS World University Rankings and is among the top 50 young universities in the world. In the list of the Times Higher Education World Rankings, the university is placed in the band of 250-300. Indians account for the highest when it comes to overseas students studying in the institute.
This is hence, a welcome news for Indians who splurge so much to attain foreign degrees. With foreign institutes coming at our doorstep, the Indian youth will be more than benefitted. Deakin along with other institutes that are to open their campuses in India will offer a range of courses that are essential in the industry today.
