Delhi University’s Executive Council will discuss today if students should be given the option to pursue two degrees simultaneously or not. The debate brews at a time when the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 and the University Grants Commission (UGC) has brought in new guidelines on pursuing dual degrees in the prior months. The new policy is not burdening on the universities. It will be optional for universities to follow.
Earlier students could opt for one full-time degree along with a short-term/online diploma course. However now, students can choose to do a double bachelors or a double masters and can to enrol in multiple diploma courses if the classes do not clash with one another. Delhi University (DU) will discuss if their students can be allowed to take dual degrees seeing both the benefits and hindrances that the policy might have. Students have shown an inclination towards the policy. They are positive about the new measure and are sure that it will broaden their horizon.
