The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced the list of paper combinations for GATE 2026. Candidates intending to take the GATE 2026 exams can review these combinations before registering at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
The GATE 2026 registrations will commence on August 25, 2025. The deadline to submit applications is September 25. Applicants must ensure they have a valid email ID, mobile number, and ID proof documents. Additionally, candidates need to upload copies of all required documents in their online application.
After registration, candidates must complete the GATE 2026 online application form and pay the required fee. While filling out the application, students must specify their chosen test papers and their combinations for the GATE 2026 exam.
GATE 2026 is scheduled to occur in February 2026, with exams taking place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.
GATE 2026 Two-Paper Combinations
The test papers will be in English. Candidates who wish to appear for two test papers must select a primary test paper. The second test paper must be chosen from the allowed combinations listed in the table above. Combinations other than those listed are not permitted during the registration periods. The IIT may later open additional two-paper combinations, which will be announced on the GATE 2026 website, depending on infrastructure availability and scheduling feasibility.
Due to these constraints, the examination centre for the second test paper might differ from the first, although it will be in the same city. In unforeseen circumstances, certain combinations might be removed from the list at a later date, and in such cases, the fee paid for the second test paper will be refunded.
