Students can now apply online for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2019, for Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Considered as one of the toughest entrance exams of India, GATE is conducted for students aspiring for ME/MTech and Ph.D. programmes at institutions like IITs, IISc, NITs, GFTIs and other Indian varsities.
Interested candidates will have to register for the exam via GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The duration is from September 1 to 21, 2018, during which time no late fee would be charged.
2019 GATE will be conducted for 24 subjects, however, the candidate aspiring for further studies can only apply for one paper in the examination.
Candidates would have to pay an application fee of INR 1500. Though there is an exemption for female candidates and those belonging to the SC/ST/PWD category, they can access the form at INR 750. The fee charge will go up for candidates applying during the extended period.
An applicant is expected to go through the eligibility criteria before applying, as otherwise the application form will be rejected by the respective authority if a candidate does not satisfy the criteria.
GATE forms are to be filled even by candidates who are aiming for employment.
