GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, achieved a significant milestone with the inauguration of its Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence and a state-of-the-art R&D Centre by Sirena Technologies—the university’s first corporate partner embedded on campus.
The initiative was formally launched in the presence of Sri Savyasachi K. Srinivas, Vice President of Engineering at Collins Aerospace, who served as Chief Guest. Commending the collaboration, he remarked, “India’s engineering talent needs platforms like GITAM to evolve from academic learners to real-world innovators. Such Centres of Excellence are catalysts for future aerospace and AI breakthroughs.”
Dr Errol D’Souza, Vice Chancellor of GITAM University, highlighted the university’s commitment to applied learning and interdisciplinary education. “Together with Sirena Technologies, we’re building an innovation-driven ecosystem that empowers students to lead in emerging industries,” he said.
Prof. KNS Acharya, Pro Vice Chancellor, welcomed Sirena Technologies, calling the partnership “a proud and promising beginning” for future industry collaborations on campus.
Launched last year, GITAM’s Robotics & AI programme has gained recognition for its progressive curriculum. The new Centre includes cutting-edge laboratories to facilitate hands-on learning from the first year onwards.
With the global robotics and AI market projected to surpass $500 billion by 2030, GITAM’s investments respond to industry trends and aim to produce highly employable graduates.
Prof. Basavaraj K, Associate Dean – Core Engineering, noted, “Core engineering is regaining its momentum. The fusion of robotics and AI with traditional disciplines is creating exciting new opportunities for students.”
The event concluded with an expert session by Collins Aerospace, internship offer distributions, and lab visits, reaffirming GITAM’s role as a leader in future-ready education.
