Google CEO Sundar Pichai, considers Artificial Intelligence’s impact on humanity to be more ‘profound’ than fire or electricity.
He said, “AI is probably the most important thing humanity has ever worked on. I think of it as something more profound than electricity or fire.”
However, he mentions like electricity and fire is hazardous, so is AI.
He said, “It kills people, too. They learn to harness fire for the benefits of humanity, but we have to overcome its downsides, too.”
Google CEO added that he is an optimist for the future of internet, technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and mentioned that he thinks that AI technology will play an important role in the progression of humanity, like curing cancer and giving solutions for climate change.
“Whenever I see the news of a young person dying of cancer, you realize AI is going to play a role in solving that in the future. So I think we owe it to make progress too.”
However, he recognizes the importance of ‘balance’ needed between AI technology’s pros and cons.
