Amid news reports of a question paper leak, a group of candidates has petitioned the Supreme Court for a new NEET-UG 2024 examination. The original exam took place on May 5, 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions nationwide. The results are expected to be announced on June 14, 2024.
The plea, filed by Shivangi Mishra and others, includes the NTA as a party and raises concerns about the paper leak and the integrity of the test, requesting a directive for a fresh examination.
The plea claimed that the NEET-UG test held on May 5, 2024, was marred by malpractices, with several instances of paper leaks reported to the petitioners. These alleged leaks violated Article 14 (right to equality) of the Constitution by giving an unfair advantage to some candidates over those who chose to give the exam honestly. Filed on June 1, 2024 by lawyer Usha Nandini V, the plea may be heard by a vacation bench this week.
