Old stories of the Guardian paper will be set apart with their time of production when shared via web-based networking media, to restrict deception.
It said factional bunches had been sharing old news stories just to push a motivation.
Social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp don’t demonstrate the distribution date of news stories that are shared.
The ancient newspaper giant, Guardian will stamp the date on the picture of old news.
Why is it important?
The increase of users in social media makes it a good platform even to spread wrong information. There have been many a case where old news gets reposted over and again just to get more views, mislead people or sensationalize the issue.
“It’s often that Facebook users are seeing only the post rather than the article itself,” expressed Chris Moran, Guardian.
To help stop this, Moran says, “So now, along with adding our logo to trail pictures used by social and search platforms, we shall highlight the year of publication on any article more than 12 months old.”
