The Jharkhand government in an effort to uplift the poorer sections of the society has announced ‘Guruji Credit Card scheme’ which will provide loans to poor students for higher education at a nominal rate.
The Jharkhand government has presented a 1.01 lakh crore budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023 with higher allocations to sectors like infrastructure and health.
“For educational loans, banks ask for collateral security. But, poor students are generally not able to provide it. In such cases, they miss the opportunity of higher education. Under Guruji Credit Card, the state government will be the guarantor for such loan,” stated Ajoy Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of Finance.
The ‘mukhyamantri sarathi scheme’ has also been proposed for students to appear for competitive exams. ‘Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Trans-national Scholarship scheme’, will also be awarded to students of SC/BC and minority communities from now on.
