How do schools influence students achievements

AP government to install 45,000 smart TVs in govt schools

For a child, parents are their first teacher, but as a child grows its time to diversify his horizons and allow them to develop into independent, brilliant, smart and a confident personality. Children will develop and learn all these traits with the help and push from their schooling. In today’s era the job of a teacher is not just limited to providing education but towards holistic development of their pupils. Schools will aid your child to perform not only academically but in sports or recreational activities as well. The teachers and school staff influence students and encourage them to interact and develop skills which will help them in their journey of life.

Schools directly or indirectly influence students in the following ways:

Academic Potential

Each school plays a vital role in influencing a students life,as it allows them to bring out their maximum academic potential. An effective and efficient school will not just put an end by teaching ABCs and 123s, in fact the faculty is constantly working on impressive ways of teaching new things to students. In this way the students learn problem solving skills and highly dedicated solution seekers. These extra co-curricular activities will help in building mental strength and stability which will eventually allow students to become more independent and professional. Problem solving or solution seeking encourage students to keep on trying till they succeed. The holistic development process opens wide horizons for children as they are constantly working their little minds to re-strategize if they haven’t found a solution to a problem because every problem has a solution and it needs a little hard-work and out of the box thinking to get the desired results.

Social Skills

The primary focus being on academics, schools have a secondary task as well and that is to build interactive skills of a child. A student may not be performing excellent academically but with the support from friends and classmates, students enhance their abilities and try to match it with their peers. Through social skills students learn about healthy interactions with other students and further cultivate it into a strong relationship. The emotional and cultural maturity of a child renders the essential underpinnings for child development in all other areas. When schools and staff brush off children’s emotional and social development, this can often lead to adults who are gifted with academic excellence but have no friends or social existence to enjoy other perks of life. Students spend most of their time in schools and its vital to have a well designed curriculum to build a solid social relationship and connect with like minded students in an empathetic manner.

Character Building and Self Concept
It is never to early to focus on the character and values ,so that the base is strong at the time when it really matters. Character building is not an option in regard to academic achievements, but rather an essential accessory of it. As the school is interested early on in lessons on reading, writing and arithmetic it also focuses on helping children learn about sympathy, esteem, empathy and honesty. At the very beginning its all about the basic etiquette like raise your arm up before you speak and keep your hands to yourself. Later, it evolves into argumentative debates about righteous and social issues. By the time children are fully matured and ready to step out in the real world by themselves, they should have a steadfast grasp on their own opinions, and values. As we are well aware it is this very perception of who they are and what they value that will help ascertain the academic, professional and personal pursuits in their life.

Broadening Horizons
The school will introduce a child to a plethora of scenarios depending upon their age. From early on, children are often exposed to students or even teachers from a variety of nationalities, cultures and traditions. The early introduction to diversity brings in acceptance with it. Further helping to carve out the viewpoint of with broad horizons. Excursions, Field trips and interactive case studies will allow your child to experiment with new things, whereas each varied subject in school will give them a clue of what awaits for them in the future. As children mature, many schools offer a variety of extracurricular opportunities to further enhance the horizons of an individual. The premises of the school holds umpteenth possibilities like your child can join the swim team, sign up for cheer leading, volunteer to work with younger children or aged people, run for school authorities and or give chess club a try. All of these experiences will help develop a child’s interests, build up motivation and shape the course of their later academic and professional journey.

Facts:

It is knowledged as obvious that teachers are of major importance in the creating of a quality  and  successful  education,  the  development  of  students  and  in  student achievement  at  school. The  first McKinsey report clearly concludes that (1) the educational system is only as good as the teachers constituting it are; (2) successful learning cannot be imagined without quality teaching; (3)  for  an excellent performance  the  success of every child  is  a prerequisite.  Thus,  if  we  include  student  development  and  school achievement among the factors that can be influenced by educational policy, we can say that  the  quality  of  teachers  and  the  provision  of  equal  opportunities  are  the  most determining factors.

The report by World Bank sets out several arguments for the value of education. It’s a powerful tool for raising incomes. Each additional year of schooling raises an individual’s earnings by 8–10 percent, especially for women. This isn’t just because more able or better-connected people receive more education, it is because school do influence achievements of every individual.
