In a landmark decision, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the Chartered Accountancy (CA) Final examinations will now be conducted thrice a year instead of the existing biannual schedule.
The move, confirmed in an official statement on Thursday, aligns with international best practices and aims to enhance career opportunities for aspiring chartered accountants. ICAI had previously revised the schedule for the Intermediate and Foundation course examinations, making them triannual. The latest decision extends the same frequency to the CA Final examinations.
As per the revised schedule, the CA Final exams will now be held in January, May, and September. This change is expected to provide greater flexibility for candidates and streamline the examination process.
Additionally, the assessment test for the post-qualification course in Information Systems Audit will also shift to a triannual format, with exams scheduled for February, June, and October. Currently, this test is conducted twice a year.
The new schedule is anticipated to reduce waiting periods for candidates, accelerate the certification process, and improve access to employment opportunities. The ICAI’s decision reflects a broader effort to modernise the CA examination system in line with evolving industry demands.
