The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has recently launched a new Bachelor of Arts program in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (BAMSME). The program is included under its School of Vocational Education and Training. This program aims to equip budding entrepreneurs with essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to start and efficiently manage their business ventures.
Starting from the January 2025 academic session, the BAMSME program caters to the needs of aspiring entrepreneurs in India. Designed as a three-year course worth 120 credits, it is open to students who have completed their 10+2 education. The program will use the open and distance learning (ODL) mode. To ensuring flexibility and accessibility for learners nationwide, the program will deliver lessons in English.
The curriculum highlights critical aspects of entrepreneurship, including analysing market demands, ensuring business profitability, and honing managerial, interpersonal, and leadership skills. According to an official statement, this program adopts an innovative and competency-based approach to prepare students for success in the competitive business landscape.
BAMSME Program Details:
- Eligibility: Completion of 10+2 or equivalent education.
- Medium of Instruction: English.
- Duration: Three years (with a maximum validity of six years).
- Session Intake: Available in January and July cycles.
- Fee Structure: ₹5,100 annually (Total fee: ₹15,300 for three years).
