Indira Gandhi National Open University, Bhubaneshwar will resume the admission process for transgender students from this academic year onwards. The admission process for transgender students was earlier stopped a few months ago.
IGNOU’s Bhubaneshwar regional centre director Mr. Manoj Kumar Dash stated this while addressing the 32nd Convocation of the university which was held on April 3, 2019. The main function was held in Delhi while the parallel programmes were organized at all the 67 regional centres of the university across the country.
On June 30, 2017, the university had announced to exempt the programme fee for transgender students seeking admission to the different programmes offered by IGNOU. However, it was discontinued by the university.
Transgender candidates who are interested to apply for the July 2019 session can apply through the online portal of IGNOU.
According to news sources, in order to apply under this category candidate need to provide any certificate issued by the government or any other competent authority in support of their candidature as a transgender.
