The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B), in collaboration with upGrad, a prominent learning and skilling platform, has introduced a new Executive Post-Graduate Certificate program in Cloud and DevOps. This online program, pioneering in its nature, stands out as the first of its kind to provide comprehensive instruction on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. It covers essential concepts, examined in AWS and Azure certification exams, marking a significant advancement in the academic offerings of IIIT-B.
Industry forecasts indicate that by 2028, more than half of enterprises will embrace industry Cloud platforms to enhance their business operations. This highlights the transformation of Cloud technology from a disruptive force to an essential component of business strategy. Nonetheless, nearly one-fifth of recruiters are facing challenges in finding skilled DevOps professionals. It’s worth mentioning that organizations implementing DevOps practices, as highlighted in reports, deploy code 46 times more significantly and frequently, and achieve a remarkable 96 percent higher success rate compared to traditional development approaches.
The program offers a comprehensive overview of diverse cloud platforms, with a strong emphasis on DevOps principles and advanced concepts such as DevSecOps and SynOps. Throughout each module, participants will have the opportunity to deploy web applications and engage in practical, and hands-on training. This equips them for positions that involve deploying and overseeing web applications within cloud settings.
Professor Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT Bangalore, announced on the launch that DevOps presents a unique approach to enterprise software development, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, automation, and communication between software developers and IT operations teams. Leveraging IIIT-B’s expertise in cloud development and DevOps, they have designed this comprehensive program to address future demands, enabling the nation to build skills and expertise in this important technical domain.
Through more than 50 interactive training sessions, participants will cultivate fundamental DevOps skills such as continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (IaC). They’ll also learn to architect scalable microservices frameworks, implement robust monitoring and logging practices, and harness AI tools for code analysis, security enhancement, and process automation. Additionally, they’ll have the opportunity to undergo supplementary hands-on training to prepare for certification exams such as AWS Academy Cloud Foundations, Azure Fundamentals, and AZ-104, ensuring a comprehensive learning journey.
Mayank Kumar, Co-founder & MD of upGrad, said that the launch of this program is a direct response to the surging demand for DevOps and cloud computing that they have observed. In the last one year, nearly 1.4 lakh learners have enrolled in their free Tech & Data courses, and hence this program with IIIT-B will strike the right chord with tech and non-tech enthusiasts. Their partnership with the University dates back to 2016, and with several in-demand online courses in Data, Software, and AI/ML, they have established a strong presence within the learning and upskilling ecosystem.
Kumar remarked, discussing the inspiration and concept behind the new launch, and said that the current macroeconomic conditions, professionals are carefully evaluating their investments and expenditures, prioritizing skills that offer both immediate market value and long-term relevance. As a result, this program offers practical tools and foundational knowledge to enhance employability. It’s tailored for newcomers in the tech industry and individuals from non-technical backgrounds who are eager to begin their journey into Cloud and DevOps.
