IIM Sambalpur Unveils Two New Undergraduate Degrees in Management, Public Policy, and AI
In a major academic expansion, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur has announced the launch of two new undergraduate programmes:
- Bachelor of Science in Management and Public Policy, and
- Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
These programmes are designed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and aim to blend academic rigor with practical skills for the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Bridging Ethics, Innovation, and Real-World Impact
Both programmes are grounded in the institute’s core values of integrity, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making. While one focuses on public policy and governance, the other strengthens India’s digital capabilities through advanced training in data science and ethical AI.
“These courses will prepare future changemakers with critical reasoning and data-driven problem-solving skills,” said the institute in a statement.
About the Programmes
BSc in Management and Public Policy
This course is designed to foster leadership in areas such as sustainability, community-led development, and Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) frameworks. The programme aims to close the gap between policymaking and grassroots implementation, building a generation of socially responsible professionals.
BSc in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
Developed in collaboration with industry experts, this programme aims to boost India’s AI readiness and technological edge. It focuses on equipping students with future-proof skills while encouraging responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.
Industry and Policy Leaders Join Launch Event
To mark the occasion, IIM Sambalpur hosted a roundtable discussion on Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as innovation hubs for international enterprises. The event featured key government and academic leaders, including:
