IIT Delhi–Abu Dhabi has opened admissions for its second batch of MTech and PhD programmes for the academic year 2025–26. The programmes, focused on energy transition and sustainability, are part of a joint initiative between India and the UAE to foster innovation in clean energy and environmental research. Classes are scheduled to begin in August 2025.
The MTech in Energy Transition and Sustainability, launched in January 2024, is a two-year multidisciplinary programme designed for both recent graduates and professionals in the energy sector. It covers critical areas such as renewable energy, sustainable transport, energy storage systems, and decarbonisation strategies, preparing students for leadership roles in tackling global energy challenges.
The PhD in Energy and Sustainability, which began in January 2025, emphasizes research-driven solutions to pressing issues such as grid stability, energy efficiency, and clean energy deployment. Doctoral candidates will engage in cutting-edge research aligned with global NetZero goals.
Located at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, the campus offers state-of-the-art facilities and access to a growing hub of academic collaboration between India and the UAE. Both IIT Delhi and Zayed University are offering scholarships and tuition waivers for meritorious students. Selection will be based on academic excellence, entrance test scores (where applicable), relevant experience, and interviews.
With strong support from both governments, the institute aims to develop a new generation of innovators and thought leaders dedicated to solving global energy and climate challenges. Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi–Abu Dhabi website.
