The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has launched a new online postgraduate program titled ‘Sustainable Construction Practices and Project Management.’ Enrollment for the July 2024 session is open until April 30, 2024. This program is ideal for those students who are aiming to pursue careers in the construction sector as project managers, construction managers, or sustainability consultants. Interested individuals can apply through the official website.
Applicants must possess a four-year bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, construction engineering, or related architecture fields with a minimum of 55 percent marks. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of work experience, though the candidate doesn’t need to be currently employed.
The program consists of a 60-credit, 12-module curriculum designed to meet industry demands. Faculty and researchers from IIT Kanpur will lead the program, applying their expertise to foster practical application in the real world.
The program aims to equip professionals with the skills necessary to build and manage sustainable construction projects. It will cover topics such as environmental management, legal and regulatory frameworks, and sustainability consulting. Students will gain a thorough understanding of green building materials, energy-efficient design, renewable energy systems, as well as project planning, scheduling, budgeting, quality control, risk, and contract management.
