The retail giant Walmart revealed that it has appointed Suresh Kumar, an IIT Madras graduate as chief technology officer and chief development officer. He also acted as a former Google executive, as chief technology officer and chief development officer.
Kumar had pursued B Tech from IIT Madras and PhD in Engineering from Princeton University.
His appointment is considered important in the context of Walmart’s major investment towards its e-commerce business.
Mr Kumar is expected to report to the Walmart’s CEO Doug McMillon.
Mr McMillon quoted, “Our new CTO Mr Kumar has a unique understanding on how to blend technology for the benefit of retail. He possesses a deep expertise in advertising, cloud and machine learning. And, he has a track record of working in partnership with business teams to drive results.”
