Why This Matters
In 2024, over 240 industrial accidents across India resulted in more than 400 deaths and 850 serious injuries, with the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors reporting the most severe incidents.
“Many of these tragedies stem from a lack of formal safety training,” said Prof. Rajagopalan Srinivasan, course coordinator. “This programme is designed to help professionals build safer workplaces.”
Flexible Learning Format
The diploma follows a trimester system—September to December, January to April, and May to August—and can be completed in 1 to 2 years, depending on course load. Learners may take up to three courses per term, making it manageable alongside full-time work.
This initiative marks a crucial step in bridging India’s industrial safety gap by empowering professionals with the tools to lead change on the ground.
