The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has introduced a web-enabled MTech (Web MTech) in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This programme is designed for working professionals who want to enhance their AI skills without leaving their jobs.
Programme Overview
IIT Madras offers Web MTech in 11 disciplines, including the new AI specialisation. The curriculum covers both basic and advanced AI concepts. It also includes hands-on training through labs and projects, ensuring practical learning.

Programme Structure & Selection Process
Professor B. Ravindran, Head of the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI, highlighted the programme’s flexibility. Professionals can attend live virtual classes in the evenings or on weekends. They can also access recorded sessions for convenience.
Assessments include remote-proctored interim evaluations and in-person end-semester exams. Additionally, students can undertake projects relevant to their workplace. This makes learning directly useful in their jobs.
To apply, candidates must have at least two years of relevant work experience and an educational background in their chosen field. The selection process includes an entrance test and/or an interview.
