IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation is collaborating with SWAYAM Plus to launch a new initiative. It aims to train Engineering students with mechanical/ manufacturing/ production background with industry-ready technical skills.
Students who excel in this program will be provided with placements. The students will be selected for the training program that will be held at IIT Madras Campus by Pravartak to impart industry-ready skills.

About This Program
IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation is a Section 8 Company housing a Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators and Control Systems. It is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems and hosted by IIT Madras.
The features of this program, they follow an industry-relevant curriculum, designed in collaboration with leading industry experts to deliver the latest hands-on technology and process and implement them into Mechanical / Manufacturing / Production sectors.
Final year students will be provided with placement assistance and connections with start-ups/leading mechanical/ manufacturing companies assuring The Central Skill Training Facility (CTSF) at IIT Madras. This course aims to empower the students and enhance their required skills to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals and mould them into becoming experts in the Mechanical/ Manufacturing Service Industry.
This will be a very practical classroom-based hands-on training program. The course will include practice on 3D modelling, 3D printing, CAM, CNC programming, and CNC machining. Additionally, the course provides knowledge on the stages of product development, prototyping, and testing.

This program offers practical knowledge along with a subsidized fee of INR 6,000/- + GST. IIT Madras campus will offer accommodation at the basic cost of INR 650/- per day per student. Which includes food and stay. Request for accommodation can be made on/before 10th October 2024.
This course offers a practical and hands-on approach to bridge the gap between theoretical engineering concepts and real-world manufacturing processes. The course aims to blend theory (20%) and experiential understanding (80%), skills such as simple quantification, back of the envelope calculations, quick engineering drawings, use of right tools, classification / taxonomy fundamentals and systems to approach the planning and executions to introduce to and strengthen the student.
SWAYAM Plus is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and IIT Madras, launched in line with National Education Policy’s (NEP 2020) focus on promoting and encouraging employability-focused, skilling courses. It aims to build employable skills among graduates across sectors critical to India’s growth. The aim is also to align industry skills with academic courses, thereby bridging the gap.
Students will gain hands-on experience with the basic manufacturing, additive manufacturing (3D Printing), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM).
