IIT Madras is set to host an academia-industry supported summit on augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality. Organized by the eXperiential Technology Innovation Centre (XTIC), the ‘eXtended Reality’ (XR) summit will take place on November 16 and 17 at the IIT Madras campus. Registration for the event is open until November 9.
The summit aims to assess the current state of experiential technologies and address skill gaps to drive sustainable growth and innovation in the field. It invites participation from researchers, professionals, and industry experts working in AR, VR, and MR. Global leaders in XR technology will deliver keynote speeches, including Prof. Steve LaValle, co-founder of Oculus, Prof. Mandayam Srinivasan, founder of MIT Hapticslab, and Prof. Mel Slater, an expert in XR psychology.
A highlight of the event is its collaboration with ‘Augmented World Expo’ (AWE), a renowned global AR/VR gathering. XTIC will host an exclusive ‘AWE Evening,’ laying the foundation for a full-scale AWE event in India by 2026.
This summit also marks the first event of the CAVE consortium, established in 2022. Several awards will be presented to recognize the contributions of startups in the XR space.
