Mumbai-based upskilling platform Imarticus Learning has acquired Bengaluru’s edtech startup MyCaptain for INR 50 Cr in a cash and stock transaction. The acquisition, part of Imarticus’ strategic expansion, marks its fourth since 2021.
As part of the deal, MyCaptain will now function as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Imarticus. All 250 employees of MyCaptain, including its founding team, have been integrated into the parent organisation. The move aims to strengthen Imarticus’ course portfolio by incorporating MyCaptain’s specialisation in digital marketing and creative learning.
Founded in 2012, Imarticus offers a wide range of courses in finance, data analytics, digital marketing, generative AI, business management, and HR. The company collaborates with institutions like IIT Roorkee and IIM Lucknow and operates over 20 offline training centres. It has over 40,000 learners across its programmes.
MyCaptain, launched in 2016, provides training in content creation, design, visual arts, business, and finance. It has recorded over 20,000 enrolments to date.
Imarticus aims to scale MyCaptain’s business fivefold within three years. It also plans to roll out MyCaptain’s offerings across its campuses nationwide.
This development coincides with Imarticus’ preparation for a public listing. The startup is set to file its draft red herring prospectus within the next five months, targeting an INR 750 Cr IPO. It reported revenues of INR 205 Cr in FY25 and is aiming for INR 300–320 Cr in FY26.
The acquisition underscores Imarticus’ growth trajectory amid evolving dynamics in India’s edtech sector.
