The Indian Army has announced an opportunity for eligible candidates to apply for a Permanent Commission under the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-55). This prestigious scheme offers successful applicants an Engineering degree upon completing four years of training. After the training, candidates will be commissioned as Lieutenants (Lt) in the Indian Army.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for this scheme, candidates must be unmarried males who have completed their Class 12 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). They must also have appeared in the JEE (Mains) 2025 examination. The age range for applicants is between 16½ and 19½ years, meaning applicants must have been born between January 2, 2007, and January 1, 2010.
Vacancies and Selection Process
The Indian Army has opened 90 vacancies for this scheme, though this number may change depending on the training capacity at the Cadets Training Wings (CTWs). The selection process includes SSB (Services Selection Board) interviews, medical examinations, a merit list, and a joining letter. Interested candidates must submit their online applications by November 13, 2025, with the deadline set for 12:00 hours.
Promotion and Salary Structure
Upon successful completion of training, candidates will be commissioned as Lieutenants and will receive a salary as per the rank. The salary structure includes various ranks with progressive pay scales, starting from Rs 56,100 at the Lieutenant level to Rs 2,24,400 at the Lieutenant General level.
Cadet Stipend and Training Costs
Gentlemen cadets will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 56,100 during their third year of training, similar to the National Defence Academy (NDA) cadets. After completing four years of training, they will be commissioned in the rank of Lieutenant with a salary according to the position. The total cost of training is Rs 13,940, which will be borne by the state, but may be recovered if the candidate withdraws or resigns voluntarily.
