The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has announced that Smart India Hackathon 2018 – Software edition Grand Finale’ will be held on March 30 and 31 at 28 different centers across India.
ISRO is a ‘Premier Partner’ for this initiative. Started on Oct 16, 2017, in Pune, ‘Smart India Hackathon 2018’ aims to utilize the expertise of students in building channels for ‘Startup India, Standup India’ campaign and gather sources for improving governance and standard of living. It also provides innovative solutions to the government to combat India’s daunting problems.
Dr. K Sivan, ISRO Chairman said, “Space Missions of ISRO/DOS have proved their usefulness for mankind. There are ample challenges and unlimited opportunity to students for improving quality of life of Indian citizens by their expertise and providing innovative solutions using satellite data and space technologies.
“Hence, ISRO/DOS has selected harnessing space technology for societal applications as the theme for SIH-2018. Sample problems are offered to trigger young minds for innovative solutions”, he further added.
