Gopa Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod says, “India’s development is linked to its investment and policies in education.”
He was conveying the regional convocation address at the 32nd convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on Wednesday.
Stressing on the facts, Mr Gopakumar said with 52% of India’s population under 26yrs, India would lose its benefit if it does not focus on investing more in education.
In any case, the present gross enrolment proportion in advanced education was deficient for the country’s development. The GDP share in advanced education was under 3%.
India needs to through internationalization of advanced education.
There would be abroad openings for work for understudies.
Mr Gopakumar gave away degree/recognition authentications and gold decorations to students securing highest marks at a national level.
The five gold medallists are namely Dhanuja M. Kurup (Master of Sociology), Subin Raju (Master of Political Science), Devika Rani S. (Lone ranger in Arts: Sociology) and Neethu Noufal (Bachelor of Commerce) and G. Geethika (Master of Gandhi and Peace Studies).
