J.D. Birla Institute’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised a seminar focusing on Course Outcomes (COs), Programme Outcomes (POs), and Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), along with their mapping under the National Education Policy (NEP). The session aimed to enhance faculty understanding of these key concepts and their integration into curricula.
COs represent the specific skills and knowledge students demonstrate after completing a course, while POs outline broader capabilities, including knowledge, analytical skills, and behaviours, acquired throughout a programme. These frameworks are crucial for curriculum design, learning experiences, and evaluating student performance, aligning educational goals with real-world applications.
The seminar, led by Dr. Harmesh Kumar Kansal, professor at Punjab University and an experienced NAAC and NBA assessor, covered topics such as accreditation, designing COs and POs, and their qualitative assessment using rubrics. Dr. Kansal emphasised the importance of mapping COs to POs, highlighting their role in ensuring student success in academics or professional careers.
The seminar was attended by faculty members and examination department officers, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to streamlining its curriculum as per NEP standards. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Deepali Singhee stressed that such initiatives are vital for fostering student development and preparing them for the demands of modern careers.
