Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday said that the students of Jammu and Kashmir have shown unprecedented resilience by living in the midst of a disturbed atmosphere and yet excelling academically.
Delivering the convocation address at the 17th convocation of Jammu University here, FM said: “If all had been well historically, given God’s gift of its best pilgrimage and tourist centres, best agriculture, limited population, handicrafts, large area, etc., Jammu and Kashmir should have been theoretically the most affluent part of this country, but unfortunately the curse of insurgency struck us.”
He said as opportunities for India and Indians are increasing now, those with degrees will enter career markets where opportunities are large.
Union finance minister Arun Jaitley with Jammu and Kashmir Governor Narinder Nath Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti were also present at the 17th Convocation of the Jammu University.
