Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has come forward for a noble cause by granting admission to kids who have lost both their parents due to the pandemic.
KVS has decided to admit such students under the ‘PM Cares for the Children scheme’ where these children would be granted admission to different classes according to their age.
The other good thing about this is that the children will not have to pay any fee whatsoever straight from classes 1 to 12.
The KV would admit these students on the recommendation of the district magistrate. The DM will have the power to recommend ten students per school with a rider of two students per class. The admission guidelines of the KVs across the country and those in Moscow, Tehran and Kathmandu have also changed.
The additional clause seeks to give admission to children who have lost either both their biological parents, or both their adoptive parents or both the legal guardians to the pandemic, the letter states.
The deputy commissioner of KVs has given strict orders to implement this under the PM Cares for Children Scheme as soon as possible.
The letter also states that the regional offices should inform the principal of the schools about these cases and that the principals should get in touch with the DM to admit these students in the age appropriate classes.
A total of 4058 registered beneficiaries have been collected by the ministry of education which has been forwarded to the ROs and which in turn have been forwarded to the principals.
A nodal officer would be selected from the region whose job would be to coordinate with the stakeholders for the admission of these children into the respective classes.
There are about a dozen of such cases from Prayagraj itself who are eligible for the PM cares scheme for students.
Assistant commissioner of Varanasi Mr B. Dayal said “The DM of the district concerned has been given the list of the children who would be benefitted as per the scheme and KVs would admit such kids as per the recommendation of the DM”.
