Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), a distinguished Institution of Eminence, has unveiled a groundbreaking academic programme set to launch in 2025. The Department of Basic Medical Sciences (DBMS) at MAHE, Manipal, will offer an integrated B.Sc. in Medical Sciences leading to an M.Sc. in Clinical and Computational Neurosciences—making it the first programme of its kind in India.
This innovative course is tailored to meet the rising demand for advanced medical sciences education while equipping students with diverse career prospects. MAHE’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its modern teaching methodologies, including problem-based learning, self-directed learning, and small-group discussions.
The programme features multiple pathways, allowing students to customise their academic progression. Students will commence with a B.Sc. in Medical Sciences and can either complete the undergraduate degree or continue to postgraduate studies. High-performing students (CGPA 7.5 and above, top 25% of the class) may opt for a research-intensive fourth year, earning a B.Sc. (Honours) in Basic Medical Sciences with a minor in Clinical Neurosciences. This track enables direct Ph.D. admission, in accordance with NEP 2020 guidelines.
Students achieving a CGPA of 6.5 or above can choose a fourth-year specialisation in either Clinical or Computational Neuroscience, leading to an M.Sc. upon completing the fifth year.
Graduates will have opportunities in academia, healthcare, and industry, including roles in neuroscience research, pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and cognitive computing.
