The Department of Economics, School of Behavioural and Social Sciences (SBSS) at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies (MRIIRS), a NAAC A++ accredited institution collaborated with the Embassy of Japan to host a two-day International Symposium on “India-Japan Partnership Towards Innovation and Sustainability: A Roadmap for Viksit Bharat.”
The event commenced with an inaugural session by the delegates, including a keynote address by Prof. Ashok Kumar Chawla, Advisor (Japan) to the Ministry of External Affairs, who emphasized the strategic importance of India-Japan collaboration in fostering innovation and sustainability.
The event featured panel discussions on educational and technological cooperation, focusing on shared visions for India’s Vision 2047 and Japan’s Vision 2050. These sessions explored the future of urban development, renewable energy, technological advancements and cultural exchange.
Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI), noted, “Education and research are the pillars of our collaboration. By fostering academic partnerships and promoting technological innovation, we are setting the stage for economic resilience and mutual growth.”
Prof. Sanjay Srivastava, Vice Chancellor of MRIIRS, emphasized the potential for collaboration in achieving long-term sustainability goals. “The partnership between India and Japan will play a crucial role in addressing shared challenges, from energy security to smart urban planning. By leveraging each other’s strengths, we can drive meaningful progress in these critical areas.”
Ms. Maho Hakamata, Third Secretary, PR & Culture, Embassy of Japan in India, spoke about the vast opportunities for students and professionals in Japan, and encouraged the university students to come to Japan for study, job, and tourism, mentioning some programs by the Japanese government.
The symposium successfully highlighted the importance of educational exchange, technological collaboration, and shared cultural values, setting the stage for continued cooperation between the Department of Economics, SBSS, MRIIRS, and the Embassy of Japan.
