ISH connection to millennial mind
The entire philosophy at ISH is to deliver hospitality education reimagined for today’s generation. A café, fine dining restaurant, mixology lab, housekeeping lab, front office desk gives students a real-time simulation of managing these essential focus areas of hospitality, and help them feel part of the college community at large.
From a colourful, modern campus to the teaching methodologies – ISH has put all of its focus on delivering an exceptional, engaging and relevant education to students.
Campus Infrastruture
In addition to outside the box design, the campus holds one of the country’s largest educational culinary complexes, spread across one master-chef style training kitchen, a bulk kitchen, and a full patisserie, an in-house fine dining restaurant named canvas, a coffee shop delish, a fully operational start up incubator and interactive lecture theatres and classrooms that connect students with industry leaders across the world.
The philosophy behind the entire space was to create an environment that would spark joy and excite our students the second, they step foot on the campus, day in and day out.
Growth of ISH
In its second year of academic operations, ISH has seen more than a 100 percent increase in its admissions. This positive growth shows that hospitality and culinary education is growing in popularity with today’s students, and validates the fact that market has been waiting for an international standard of education to become available within India.
In addition to this, ISH is also providing an international pathway to its students. Students of the hospitality management programme can choose to pursue their final two years of education and graduate from its accrediting school, world leaders Écolehôtelière de Lausanne. For lovers of the culinary arts, ISH has entered into India’s very first academic collaboration with Asia’s best culinary school, At-Sunrice Global Chef Academy for two diploma programmes, enabling students to both study and undergo industry placements in Singapore.
Industry-academia gap
Despite the rapid growth in the last few decades, there has been little effort to upscale the education in the sector. Outdated curricula, badly adapted Western teaching models and discrepancies in teaching all result in it becoming clear that the curriculum being taught in institutions around the country falls short of understanding current industry requirements, as well as more modern, up-to-date pedagogical approaches.
Expansion plan
One of the key focus areas for the coming year is to roll out executive education programs for continuing education for hospitality and allied service industries through the ISH Center for Professional Development. Future plans include further expansion and scalability; introducing brand ISH and establishing the brand across India and the surrounding region. Opportunities for developing a second campus in the south (Hyderabad or Bengaluru) is under active planning. Future expansion will include a campus in West India and opportunities are also being explored for Nepal & Sri Lanka markets at more affordable fees & costs.
From 2020 onwards, once brand ISH is well established, plans include moving into the area of skill development for the tourism & hospitality industry by teaming up with the Government’s “Skill India” initiative and multiple service providers in order to help build sustainable livelihoods for individuals and communities across the country.
