In a noteworthy move by Microsoft, the company won’t ask the users to see “Safely Remove Hardware’ option while pulling out the connected USB device. The change is a part of ‘Quick Removal Policy in Windows 10 version 1809.
The two policies Quick removal and better performance acts defines how the system interacts with the external storage device such as USB. The Microsoft page says that,
“Beginning in Windows 10 version 1809, the default policy is ‘quick removal’ while the earlier versions of the Windows leveraged the policy of Better performance.”
Steps to change the policy for external device
Once the device is connected, go to the file explorer.
Identify the external storage and right click on the main start menu at the bottom-left corner.
Select the disk-management option.
Right click and follow the properties.
Select policies and chose ‘better performance’ or ‘quick removal.’
